FareShare | Fighting hunger, tackling food waste in the UK

Did you know that one in six people in the UK are worried about where their next meal will come from? Meanwhile, millions of tonnes of food goes to waste every year.

FareShare is the UK's national network of charitable food redistributors, made up of 18 independent organisations. They take good quality surplus food from right across the food industry and get it to frontline charities and community groups across the UK, including school breakfast clubs, older people’s lunch clubs, homeless shelters, and community cafes.

FareShare is set up to take both large and small volumes from across the food and drink industry. They accept fresh, frozen, ambient and chilled food and drink, including retailer branded foods in all forms, from bulk ingredients and unfinished products to labelling errors and damages.

They collect it from you, then divert it to their UK-wide network of 8,500 frontline charities and community groups. Every week, from current donations, they provide enough food to create almost a million meals for vulnerable people, as well as help tackling climate change in the process.
